Buyer's Note

Berkertex was founded in 1936.

It was a pioneering company that began producing mid-priced ready-to-wear clothing, and after relocating to Plymouth in southwest England after the war, it created the largest employment in the region.

Its designs, especially from the 1970s onwards, were popular, frequently appearing in magazines alongside brands like Mary Quant, but the company finally closed in 2018.

This dress, from the 1970s, features a clean neckline and balloon sleeves reminiscent of early 19th-century dresses, and is made with plenty of soft, light gauze-like fabric.

The combination of the seemingly contradictory casual herringbone pattern and romantic lace is exquisite and reflects the era.
